At Southampton Imaging Department we are a well-trained and growing team, supported by a wealth of state-of-the-art equipment over multiple specialties. We pride ourselves on providing the highest standards of care with patient experience being our top priority.

Following a very recent expansion to our unit, we are welcoming applications from Ophthalmology Consultants across a range of specialties. If you hold a FRCOphth or equivalent qualification and a full GMC registration with a licence to practice, we would love to hear from you! At UHS we support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service.

About Our Eye Unit:

We manage many face-to-face clinics along with virtual work in order to best handle a large workload of complex imaging needs. We have the ability to perform visual field perimetry with both Humphrey and Octopus Visual Field Analysers. We use the Heidelberg Spectralis to perform high resolution imaging of the eye, both anterior and posterior, as well as angiography. We have 3 Optos Ultra-widefield machines as well as standard OCT and photography on our Topcon OCTs.

The anterior segment of the eye can be photographed on our slit-lamp camera and we use Pentacam, Specular Microscopy and external eye imaging to support our clinics.

As we have a lot of surgical activity as Southampton, including cataract, we perform Biometry using the IOL Master 700.

We are fortunate to have such a variety of equipment for our varied specialties and often very complex clinics.
